1. Abu Dhabi · tonight, over the water

    Erwin Lejeune

    Head of Robotics at SIRB.AI

Eight years in robotics, performed by 1,500 drones over the water. Scroll to run the show, or take the controls and draw in the sky.

  2. Act I 2018–2019 · Bordeaux, France

    Starting at the chip

    Hiventive · Embedded Software Engineer

I built a SystemC/TLM virtual prototype of an STM32 microcontroller (timers, I2C, CAN, GPIO, USART) and integrated it with QEMU.

What stuck: treat time, memory and bandwidth as a budget, and test against a model of the hardware first.

In the sky: the microcontroller, signals running in.

  3. Act II 2019 · Coimbra, Portugal

    Two mazes, two wins

    Ingeniarius · Robotics Assistant

Full autonomy stacks with ROS and embedded systems, built from scratch. They won both maze-solving competitions: the mapped one and the unmapped one.

    • 2 of 2 competitions won

In the sky: a maze, and the path through it.

  4. Act III 2020–2021 · Nantes, France

    Research, in real time

Ecole Centrale de Nantes · Robotics Researcher

I led four research projects: multi-agent pathfinding, AI planning in PDDL, real-time ROS control on Xenomai, and ROS 2 latency benchmarking. On the side: Go backend services for Hiventive, remotely.

In the sky: the inverted pendulum from the jitter paper, balancing.

  5. Act IV 2021–2022 · Odense, Denmark

A robot in a real supermarket

Coalescent Mobile Robotics · Founding Robotics Engineer

Our founding team delivered the first working in-store robot. I led navigation (planning, control, localization), then trolley detection too after the CTO left, with interns and a junior engineer I recruited and trained.

“A real store changes your priorities fast.”

In the sky: a trolley, detected.

  6. Act V 2022–2024 · Abu Dhabi

    Learning from birds

Technology Innovation Institute · Senior Engineer, Robotics Software

R&D for multi-robot orchestration, collaboration and control. I designed new swarm behaviours, including decentralized bird-inspired flocking, published at IEEE/RSJ IROS 2024. The live demos led to USD 3M in contracts.

In the sky: a flock, each drone steering by its neighbours. Move your cursor through it, or tap.

  7. Act VI 2024–2026 · Abu Dhabi

    A lighter swarm

Technology Innovation Institute · Team Lead, Robotics Software

I grew and led a team of 9 across autonomy, infrastructure and integration, and we overhauled the swarm autonomy architecture. With Caltech: outdoor planning and tracking for M4, their flying-and-rolling robot. Demos in Europe and the UAE led to USD 10M+ in contracts.

    • −74% onboard CPU
    • −52% bandwidth
    • 9 engineers

In the sky: the CPU we gave back to every drone.

  8. Act VII 2024–now · remote

A voice becomes a queue of jobs

    Unchained Labs · Founder

Local-first AI agents that run on a company's own models, data and infrastructure. Kymatics, our graph-based orchestrator, turns a spoken intent into a queue of build jobs.

In the sky: a voice, a graph of agents, a queue of jobs.

  9. Act VIII Feb 2026–now · Abu Dhabi

    Head of Robotics, SIRB.AI

Founding team · سرب, sirb, is Arabic for a swarm

I designed the robotics architecture and a self-healing autonomy layer: swarm-wide fault and state recording, agents that detect and recover from failures, ML-based mission scoring before launch.

    • UMEX 2026 public launch

In the sky: watch for a drone turning red. It fails, it's caught, it recovers.

After the show

Projects, running

A real clip of each one, playing while it is on screen. Every card links to the code.

grip

A git hook that quizzes you on your own diff before you commit or push, grades the answers against a hidden rubric, and blocks anything below the pass mark.

PyMAPF

Multi-agent pathfinding on arbitrary graphs: CBS, PIBT, LaCAM, MAPF-LNS, plus multi-agent RL. The solvers stream their search live.

Kymatics Unchained Labs

Turns a spoken intent into a queue of build jobs, with local-first agents.

flybots

Multirotor, fixed-wing and VTOL flight physics from scratch, 40+ runnable simulations, and an RL gym.

rostree

Explores a ROS 2 dependency graph (a DAG, not a tree) from the CLI, a TUI, or a self-contained HTML file.

PythonPDDL

A dependency-free PDDL framework: hand-written parser and grounder, 14 planners, LM-cut and FF heuristics, and trainable heuristics.

roue

An offline file converter for the Linux desktop: Ctrl+Shift+right-click a file, pick a format on a wheel, and the result lands next to the original.

Clanker Labs

Self-host your home (notes, mail, media, passwords, money) on hardware you own, with an agent in front so it doesn't need a sysadmin.

Whoever or whatever wrote the change. AI lets a team ship more without lowering the bar; the work is the harness around it.

Off the clock

Basketball, films, photography, and Clanker Labs, my self-hosted home with an agent running it. These are mine.
